ENJOYING THE RIDE

LAND ROVER OWNER JANA FALLER

The original Land Rover as envisioned in 1947 was a utility vehicle inspired by World War II-era jeeps. It was boxy and sturdy, not exactly pretty but suitable for off-road use and made to last. In 1948, it became the first mass-produced consumer vehicle with four-wheel drive.

Land Rover is an enduring brand that is still associated with sturdy and practical vehicles, but today’s Range Rover models are luxury SUVs, beautiful and sleek.

Jana Faller certainly sees the beauty in Land Rover’s modern incarnation. She purchased her latest Land Rover vehicle from ONYX, a Range Rover Sport SVR in L’Orange Sunset, an intense and uncommon metallic coloration she calls “original, fun, and not at all subtle… (there were) very few made in this color.”

The Range Rover Sport is classified as a mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle, easy to handle but able to seat five passengers and featuring plenty of cargo space. It provides multiple drive modes to handle a variety of surfaces from city streets and highways to unpaved rural roads—or more challenging off-road terrains. Faller said the Range Rover Sport suits her needs perfectly.

“My lifestyle as the owner of a real estate brokerage is fast-paced and demanding,” said Faller, who owns Synergy Real Estate and Development Corp. and serves as president. “This vehicle is luxurious for showing clients around town and tough enough to drive over rough properties and land developments.”

Range Rovers are known for being easy to maintain and for keeping their value, which reflects the Land Rover brand’s reputation for quality. Rover owners benefit by the association, and Faller said she enjoys a lot of compliments about her vehicle.

“(People) say it’s unique and stands out… Range Rover is a symbol of success to most, and it’s helped me be highly successful in my real estate career,” she said.

Once inside, people notice the vehicle’s fine interior finishes and premium features like leather seating, a sport steering wheel, excellent sound system, and overall comfortable and well-appointed cabin. However, Faller said, people are just as impressed with her Range Rover Sport’s mechanical capabilities and performance as they are with its appearance. “Most are blown away by its deep sound when I start it; the 500-plus horsepower shows immediately,” she said.

The vehicle’s SVR designation stands for Special Vehicle Ratings, indicating Land Rovers and Jaguars (both brands are owned by the same automotive company, Tata Motors) with enhanced performance and premium sports design. Land Rover says the model is capable of reaching the 130 mph range, although Faller would say her personal need for speed, like most everyday drivers, is a bit more modest.

As much as she appreciates her Range Rover Sport’s aesthetics, Faller also loves that the vehicle is reliable and capable year-round in a highly variable climate.

“Practically speaking, in this Nebraska weather I appreciate the four-wheel drive options the Rover offers. It’s safe and sporty at the same time,” she said, adding that although her two daughters, Devyn and Nyah, are now young adults, her Range Rover Sports were always up to the task of getting them and their gear to and from many events and activities over the years.

Faller, who is married to Landmark Performance Homes owner Steve Faller, said ONYX has treated the family well. Her current Range Rover is actually the third she’s purchased from the dealership.

“I like ONYX’s white-glove service and professionalism. They are always going above and beyond to deliver great service,” she said.

“I’m very happy with Range Rover Sport and ONYX.”

Faller said she’s more than okay with the fact that her Range Rover Sport catches people’s attention. It not only communicates something about her personally, but also sends a little message of its own, she explained.

“My vehicle says, ‘Life is short—enjoy the ride,’ she said.
