At ONYX Automotive, we believe that being a good neighbor means more than just providing great vehicles—it means showing up for our community when it matters most. That’s why, as part of our ONYX Driving Good initiative, we stepped up to the plate this June to partner for the third consecutive year with the Food Bank for the Heartland’s Strike Out Hunger Drive.

The Critical Need in Our Neighborhoods
Food insecurity remains a critical issue across Nebraska and Western Iowa, quietly affecting everyone from school children to veterans and local families navigating sudden financial hardships. By teaming up with the Food Bank, ONYX aims to ensure that fewer families have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
Stepping Up: Over 8,800 Meals Provided
This year, the effort got a major boost from the H+H Group—part of the ONYX Automotive family—which won the award for the most overall food raised during the campaign by rallying its workforce to donate over 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food. This massive contribution translates into over 8,800 total meals the Food Bank for the Heartland can provide.
Friendly Competition Drives Big Results
To keep energy high, the donation drive came with a creative twist: a company-wide sculpture competition. Each H+H Group location was challenged to build a structure entirely out of their collected food items before boxing them up for delivery. Channeling their daily inspiration, the ONYX team took home serious style points by constructing a remarkably detailed replica of a Range Rover out of cans and boxes.

While the competition brought a sense of fun to the showroom, the real victory is the impact these donations will have on dinner tables across the region.
Driving Good Into the Future
This is just one stop in the dealership’s ongoing community efforts. Stay tuned for our next issue, where we’ll share how ONYX continues to find new ways to drive good in the community.
